Reusing images in scheduled posts

Learn why images aren’t reused automatically, the three ways to reuse one, and how to swap or add an image to a post that’s already scheduled.

Why images aren’t reused automatically

Once an image has been used in a Social Media Manager post, it gets flagged as “used once” and won’t be automatically reused.

This is intentional. It stops the same visual from turning up over and over across your scheduled content, so your feed stays varied. Autonomous scheduling doesn’t support image reuse at all - automated posts always pull unused images from your Brain AI library.

So if an image you love stopped appearing in scheduled posts, nothing is broken. That’s Soshie’s social media manager working as designed.

The three ways to reuse an image

You’ve got three options. The first one is the easiest:

1. Pick it manually from your media library (recommended)

When you’re creating a post, select the image directly from your media library. Any image, used or not.

This is the simplest and preferred method - no workarounds, no re-uploading.

2. Reference it manually in Soshie’s chat

Reference the image by its exact title to pull it into a post.

The title has to match what’s stored in Brain AI exactly - see Naming images in Brain AI for how titles work and how to rename one.

Adding an image to a post that’s already scheduled

You can add an image to a scheduled post without rebuilding it.

Steps:

  1. Go to the automations.

  2. Then press My automations.

  3. Select the Social Media Manager.

  4. Click the post you want to adjust.

  5. Click on the image.

  6. Click Add.

  7. Select the image you want to add to the carousel.

  8. Save the changes.

Swapping an image during post approval

During the weekly post approval flow, you can also swap the media for a post.

If the image that was used or generated isn’t right, upload other media from Brain AI in place of the existing media before the post goes out.

  1. Open the post you want to adjust.

  2. Click on the image.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Select the image you want to change into.

  5. Save the changes.

This is the natural moment to catch anything off-brand - you’re already reviewing the post, so fixing the visual takes seconds.

Regenerating or AI-editing an image before it publishes

Two more options in the content calendar, both available before a post publishes:

  • Regenerate image - produces a new image for the post.

  • AI Edit - edits the post’s existing image.

You can find these options by following the steps:

  1. Go to the automations.

  2. Then press My automations.

  3. Select the Social Media Manager

  4. Click the post you want to adjust

And then, right under the image, you will see these two buttons.

Handy when the image is close but not quite there, and you’d rather adjust than swap it out entirely.

What happens to images after they’re used

Nothing is lost. Images are never deleted or archived after use.

They stay in your Brain AI library and remain searchable forever. The “used once” flag only affects whether automated scheduling picks the image again - it doesn’t hide it, move it, or remove it.

You can always find it and use it manually, any time.
